PAX East: Play Testing!

Hey there, faithful readers! I know things have been quiet around here...almost...too quiet. You know what that means, though! We've been hard at work making a new game for you! Don't you feel special now?

We wanted to let you know, because, well, you are special. And we want you to come play our game at PAX East this weekend. We'll be hanging out in the Tabletop area from 12-2 and 6-8 on Friday and Saturday, so come by and check it out. If you ask extra nice we might even let you play it outside those times.

Frankenfriend 2.0 is now live!

I bet you thought we were sitting on our hands. Or had disappeared back into the alternate dimension from whence we came. I mean, it's understandable. I mean, we do keep complaining about how rain isn't made of donuts here.

Connecticon!

Too much time working not enough time blogging!  Connecticon.... iddily... Panel ... oodily... d... DOODILY DOODILY!

Come Find Us at PAX East

Oh man, we are so psyched about the upcoming awesomeness that we forgot to tell everyone!  As you know, we're based in Boston.  You know what else is based in Boston?  That's right, PAX East!  You're so clever, reading the post title and all.  I just want to pinch your cheek.  But what you may not know is that we will also be at the Made in MA event on March 10!

January

Rich Vreeland, a pretty awesome game music composer, just put out his first game, January. I mostly mention this because I want you to play it (do it now!), but it also serves as a good example of goal-oriented vs. play-oriented gaming.

Media and Games

For a long while, a question has been itching in my mind, and I think I've come to a reasonable conclusion.  I believe this topic has been broached and laid to rest before, but humor me as I work through my process.  The question in question is "Are games media?"  And the answer, I believe, is yes, but perhaps more in the traditional than the modern sense.

2010: Year in Review

Alright everyone, good game, now let's huddle up.

The Humble Indie Bundle Returns

Last time around, I jumped at the opportunity to get the Humble Indie Bundle. This time, I took a moment to consider what I was getting. And then I remembered: this isn't about getting.

Things Look ... Different Around Here

So we've changed some things around, and we now have a new website to go along with the non-competition release of FrankenFriend!  We hope you like the new changes! Here are some of the things we've got coming down the pipeline:

The JIG is Up: FrankenFriend Breaks Loose!

So you may have noticed that we put a fancy new game up! About three months ago, we caught wind of the ninth JayIsGames.com Casual Gameplay Design Competition. We brainstormed, and then crammed for two months of development to bring you FrankenFriend, and now that the competition is over, we can host the game ourselves! Give it a play and tell us what you think!
